Does anyone have such a weird and wonderfull taste in music as me?

Question

I have currently looking at all the music i have listened too over the years.
I cannot believe the difference in types of music.
From blues to jazz, from rock to heavey metal and even thrash metal.
The weird thing is i am going backwards.
The more music i listen to the further back i am going.
Coldplay has become neil diamond, guns and roses have become supertramp and mettalica have become ry cooder.
Even my 8 year old son is starting to sing the lyrics to supertramp.
Does anyone else have such a weird music taste/collection

Yep, same here. Loads and loads of albums, and still keeping up to date on new and old sounds. My tastes are as eclectic as yours. From Dolly Parton to Placebo, From Kylie to Manic Street Preachers, From Nina Simone to Madonna and more and more. And I'm always looking for new sounds from all over the world. Lila Downs from Mexico, La Cabra Mecanica from Spain, VIcentico from Argentina, and the list is endless. I just love music, and get enough of it.

I can beat you. All but a few of the bands I like are older than I am- OMD, Depeche Mode, Einsturzende Neubauten, New Order- you get the idea. I like all different types of music too, from indie to industrial rock. I even like modern classical stuff like Karlheinz Stockhausen.
Like you, I started in the present and worked backwards- Westlife became OMD, dance music became Kraftwerk, Boyzone became Depeche Mode and New Order. Then I went further back and started listening to Stockhausen, Tangerine Dream, ELO, Faust, Can...
As for your son singing Supertramp, then what do you expect. The music influences of the parent will always influence the child- I was brought up listening to most of the bands I now like. Children copy what they hear.

Nothing wierd about having wide taste in music. It's good to be able to listen to all sorts. I have cd's from Jethro Tull to Orbital and a big collection of Blues (Try listening to some Thames Delta Rythm'n'Blues), Rock, some Country & Western. Ambient, Dance I've started collecting vinyl again as some of this music sounds so much better on this format. Deep Purple is unbeatable on vinyl. Some of the classical music that I listen too is better this way as well.
I've got to confess though I can't get on with Hip Hop though, probably just as well at my age :-0

No i don't. I like pop songs Blues and RnB from pple like Beyonce, Britney Spears, Rihanna, Pussycat Dools, Amerie, Shakira, Westlife, backstreet boys, Pink e.t.c I hate songs from pple like Coldplay, Limp bizkits, metallica, White Stripes, Gorillaz and all those. I like only Linkin Park and Avril Lavigne. You can try these ones if u think you are stuck up with rock and cant go for those i like.

you should see my cd and tape collection. I have the drifters from the fifties,andi have schubert and brahms, cream classics ministery of sound and sting and phill collins,I have country and western music and gospel and worship music.if you only had one type or style of music how could you say you loved or liked music.
