I work for Tesco. They don't check the answers, they just check whether they fit a certain pattern -- I kid you not.

Tesco trade in retail from 08.00 am Monday to 22.00 pm Saturday. There is also Sunday trading for 6 hours which are flexible but use the norm of 10.00 am to 16.00 pm. The store has to be manned at least half an hour before trading starts as the customers come in to " browse" and Tesco need another half an hour to empty the store and prepare for Monday's trade. Their staff are expected to be available at all of these times with very little notice. A normal shift means 9 hours on site with one hour dinner break and two 15 minutes unpaid breaks which may have to be worked without extra pay or time off if there is a staff shortage. If this sounds ideal, answer that the customer is the most important person in the store.

I haven't seen the Tesco form but generally employers like team players who are able to follow orders. Initiative is okay is some situations but I would side towards team player who will work hard for the good of the company but can also think for themself if required and doesn't need too much hand holding.

1 You must be able to repeat, from memory, keeping a straight face "If you can't see it we haven't got it"
2. you must say, just as the customer is putting their stuff on the belt "sorry closed its time for my tea break"
3. On no account ever indicate that you are capable of working on your own initiative as then they will put you on the customer helpdesk.
