AAH!

A serious question at last.

Let's look at the facts - a tree has fallen over IN the forest.
Not ON THE EDGE of the forest, but IN the forest.

What do we have a lot of IN forests?
Trees
That's what we have a lot of.

On the EDGE of the forest, we only have half the number of trees that are IN the forest - because the trees that are on the EDGE of the forest only have other trees on one side of them.
Poor trees.
Ah!

However - we know that the tree in question is IN the forest so we can presume it is surrounded by other trees.
Well, it would be, wouldn't it?
I mean, whose ever heard of a forest with only one tree?

Phew, Robin Hood would have had a bit of a job hiding wouldn't he.

So - fact, a tree in the middle of the forest - well not necessarily in the middle but surrounded by lots of other trees nevertheless, has fallen down.

From what I know about forests all them trees are reaaly close to each other.

I mean, whose ever heard of a forest where every tree is half a mile from the next tree?
That's silly.

So, this tree has fallen down - but it couldn't have, could it?
You are lying to us, aren't you?

Because if it started to fall down it would just be propped up by another tree.
It would be sort of 'leaning'

So, let's rephrase the question - If a tree leans over in thje fotrest and no one is there to see it, do the other trees make fun of it?

Well, I reckon that all the trees make fun of it except the poor old tree that's now holding up our ill tree.

At least I presume it's ill - why else would it fall over?

Which brings me to another question.
This tree's illness - is it contagious?
Will the trees be playing dominoes?

My goodness - don't you wish you had never asked in the first place?

But then again, on the other hand, I've got four fingers and a thumb.

Got to go - matron is coming . . . . . Weeeeeeeeeeee

I think the best idea is to go to your nearest forest and carry out a survey of a 100 trees to find out. Knocking a fellow tree when it is down is poor form so I have heard from what I no of tree hiercarchy and acceptable social behaviour....

If I saw it, I'm sure the trees wouldn't make fun of it.

If trees are anything like people, then probably. They'd also kick it when it was down too :(
