You can convert matter to energy, but you cannot take energy and make matter out of it.

I agree with steve, it is not a particularly clear statement. The best I can come up with is that energy cannot be recycled.

You can recycle paper, or burn it to generate heat. Recycled paper gives you more paper, but once burnt, the energy is lost to the general environment.

There is no apparent relationship between the 2 statements.
Only the first one is true.

Did you mean 'one way TO TRANSFER energy'? ...or 'one way transfer OF energy'? It makes a LOT of difference.
