I don't understand it. I always feel bad if I think I have hurt or personally offended anyone in any way.

Usually people who do this are unhappy with themselves. The only way they know how to make themselves feel better is by putting others down. I feel sorry for people like that feed off of hurting others. All you can do is overlook them and hope that life gets better for them. Don't stoop to their level.

Best Wishes!!!

How sadism and masochism develop and why some people find these practices pleasurable remains unclear. Various current theories include childhood experiences, endorphin-based mechanisms, learned behavior, genetic dispositions, and simple conscious choice.

They hurt others because they are hurting themselves. A person who doesnt feel the need to hurt another person is usually a very together person and has a good opinion of themselves. The person who take every opportunity to hurt another has a very low opinion of themselves, so should we hate these kind of people? What do you think. I know when I come across people like that in my life...I dont take it personally...I put it into perspective and I feel quite sorry for that type of person...something horrible must have happened in their life for them to be so bitter. That is one kind of hurter.

Another kind of hurter is one who does it for kicks, the one who likes to stand out in a crowd, the one who is trying to impress his "mates". You should feel sorry for that kind of person too because he is so insecure that he will do anything to be accepted into the "in" crowd.

The beauty in all of this is that we can choose who we want to associate with, we dont have to associate with people who are nasty...we will associate with like minded people, and the people who try to hurt you are only passing acquaintances, so they dont matter in your life. Put it into perspective, brush their comments off....it is them who have the problem not you.

because i think they may have low self esteem...and so to put someone else down....they get the ultimate rise out of it....it's like a rush .....ppl who are like that don't like themselves very well....so they want you to feel the pain that they feel....so they have no problem at all hurting you.
