Microsoft now wants to make sure that you use a legal and registered copy of windows. When you use a trial copy you have 30 days period. For a regular copy, you have 30 days to register your copy of windows. If you dont do it in this period of time, your software will not become available or fully functional. If you have an original copy you dont have nothing to worry about. Just register your copy over the internet.

To continue using Windows after the 8 days are up, you will need to activate it. It you cannot activate it, call Microsoft and they can help you activate it.

Windows will stop working. It should give you activation options like Activate over the internet or a way to contact Microsoft Support to manually activate it.

Is it a validated version of xp . If so microsoft will help you to activate it . May be your product key has been stolen by anybody you don't know .
If it is not a validated xp they may stop supporting your windows this means you will have some security backdoors , problems.
Try to validate it . Begin to use linux .I advise you to install a linux software on another partition of your harddisk so you can learn how to use a linux .After vista it wil be difficult to use cracked software cause they are integrating a unique detection tool to Vista .
