Usually I just ignore the homework problems or give simple hints that show which direction to go. Sometimes I will work out an easy problem just to show the method, hoping that they can then go and do others themselves.

no i dont feel like a chump or a hero, But these people really do need help, and you must be a teacher who is asking? And also the education now a days is horrible, And the schools here is making it soo hard for students to even stay in schools, let alone get good grades, thats why they come here to us, We help them, plain and simple

When I was in school sometimes I did extra homework just because I liked the subject and I was really good at it but I would never do it "for" people: if they needed someone to do it for them they obviously needed some tutoring, and I did that instead if it didn't seem like a waste of time. Sometimes if my friends or myself forgot to do a paper, we'd give the other our work to look over, because we all knew the material, and we were honors students anyway.

you mean answering these questions? it's just like helping people you know do their homework if they don't understand or need help. some people ask that others do all their homework, like by email, but i would never do that. if you are some teacher, don't you ever see students talk and collaborate on their homework in the classroom? it's like that.

Why do you want to understand the people that do this? How do you think that will help you?

I hate that.
When someone bothers me to death, I bore them to death by explaining every aspect of their homework and making them do it. >:-)
