This virus has got into my system and I have contained it through my firewalls etc. Only now I get the odd virus symbol popping up and it will not go into the vault or heal, I can only ignore it. It goes and then pops up again. My computer says all is well, it works fine apart from this little bugger, any ideas please.....

Need to run a really good virus scanner such as Norton Systemworks or AVG, during safe-mode operation on your PC. Safe mode is used with a minimal set of drivers and is perfect for troubleshooting viruses or other hardware/software maladies.

As for the virus, you can research it at this site: http://smallbiz.symantec.com/security_response/writeup.jsp?docid=2006-042013-1813-99&tabid=2

For the popping up part there may be a program that has been infected or more copies that hides itself in the System folder.

Yes, first go to f-secure.com and do an online scan. If that doesn't get the bugger, search for it and move it to your desk top. Then try to delete it. If it won't delete. Right clcik your taskbar and bring up task manager - click processes and then highlight it and end process - stop the bugger running and it will delete - gone finito - had it!! lol get rid of any other nasties like WGA files the same way!! lol

It's worth getting an expert to check your computer out at:

http://www.webuser.co.uk/forums/ubbthreads.php/Cat/0

Register, go to the Hijack This Forum, read the instructions on how to post a log, give a brief description of your problem (like you've just typed) and post your log there. The guys in there are fantastic and trustworthy and will guide you through in getting rid of anything nasty from your computer. Good luck!
