Ralph Lauren and Lacoste have a distinct difference in moody style. I'll wear Ralph Lauren (Polo or Purple Label) if I'm going for a more classy look, but when I think Lacoste is more suited for summer and sporty occasions- after all Lacoste was originally designed as a clothing line for tennis players that merged into 'mainstream' fashion. My wallet prefers Ralph Lauren, but I prefer Lacoste.

It has to be Ralf Lauren, its a whole lot more up market than Lacoste, as You can buy Lacoste clothes and other products (ie. aftershave ect) from bwise or quality seconds, but you can't buy Ralf Lauren in them kind of stores.
