Tell me why the liberal base wants us to drag these cases out 18 years?
If we actually did what the penalty prescribed without delaying it for years then the death penalty would have a greater influence on those that commit murder. But since a murderer can keep it in court for years, why not kill who ever you want?
Life is Sacred? What about the life he took? The family he destroyed? No, the way to stop a murderer is to remove him or her from the equation, not try and "reform" them to let them kill again.

Every life is sacred but that isnt the point is it. If someone took a life then he should be put to death as well. Otherwise we're going to have a real;y screwed up society with jails full of murderous animals just waiting to escape and do it again.
But I agree, death row takes too long. They should be allowed 1 appeal then the death penalty executed. Haha get it? EXECUTED!!! : P

the mental cruelty you speak of is the abuse of the appeals process. In Ms the Wilcher case is a perfect example. Wilcher stated that he wanted to give up all appeals. On the night of his execution his lawyers won a stay. The supreme court looked at the evidence and again reissued a new execution date. Now Wilcher wants to appeals to start all over again. The mental cruelty is on the tax payers and not the criminal. Wilcher is clogging up the courts and "milking" the system. Check out www.ClarionLedger.com for the story.

Sounds like the Nation of Texas.
Texas has the most murderers and the most executions.
This is probably how George Dubya Bush got his training. Now he leads Saddam in the total number of People killed in Iraq. Bush is the best killer America has had in years.

Because of the appeals process. Mental cruelty and life IS precious. What about lives the that were taken? Are they not precious and deserving of justice?

Bull crap
It take 18 years because of appeals & chalenges. In the good old days we would have taken rope strung the SOB up and be home for lunch. If it hurts his mental state? Try not doing a crime.... problem solved.

I can assure you, it is not the proponents of capital punishment that drag out the administration of justice. Life may be precious, but there are also behaviors that many believe warrant the ending of a life.

The sort of nation that allows them to appeal for 18 years. We should execute them the next day.

Well, those crimionals are the ones that file appeal after appeal. If that makes them suffer, good, I would hope that they wake up screaming in pain every night.

Chances are that if a person has committed a bad enough crime to be executed for it, I'm not going to have much sympathy for their "mental anguish".
Mostly because killing them is a cop-out of any sort of real punishment.
