What about the guitarist Estaban?

Santana is the most over-rated guitarist in rock. He's been dining out on the same guitar solo for nearly 40 years now and because of his many good works most music writers ignore that. Did you ever hear Frank Zappa's "The Carlos Santana Secret Chord Progression?". Listen to that and try not to laugh. Did you ever listen to "Love, Devotion, Surrender" the album he made with John McLaughlin? Mahavishu John blew Carlos out of the studio technically-speaking.
Listen, I am a fan of Santana's music but let's be honest, he has always surrounded himself with great players, gave them their heads, made great music and took most of the credit.
You want names? Clapton before he went commercial, Duane Allman before he died, (Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs was the reason that Carlos hired Neal Schon), Roy Buchanan, Jimi, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimmy Page (in his pre-Zep studio days), Eddie Van Halen...

I love Carlos Santana because he has a unique recognizable style and because of his genre busting style. He often plays rock, jazz, blues (Not the 12 bar style), even Spanish all at the same time. Listen to Samba Pa Ti or Europa or his other slow instrumentals. You can hear elements of these four genres at the same time in the solos or melodies. Amazing! (If you don't understand my point, maybe you have to be a guitarist or a musician to get it.)

Yes, I agree Carlos was born to play guitar. I have a question for you. Can you outplay, or at least be on par with Eric Clapton ? I'm a musician too, I found out long ago not to be critical .
