I'm not much older than fourteen (I'm almost 17) but I think that 14 year olds are still "unknowing" about certain things. Then again most of the 14 year olds I've talked to seem to know more than I do. It's not so much the age as it personality that's makes some one immature. I know a 22 year old guy that's married and has a kid that acts younger than some of the 14 year old kids around.

LOL. 25 year olds are still considered children and immature to older adults. Its part of being older, or being younger.

14 is as old as 14 acts. But no matter how old you seem or act at any age, it will never replace life experience, something you can only aquire with age.

People dont look down on teenagers in the way you think. Its their lack of reason and assuming they know more than someone who's been their age and older that is offensive. Most adults want to help children grow up with as little rough parts as possible. Kids and teenagers make the mistake of thinking they know enough already.

Ive been there, I know. 14 is still a baby, but 14 is also old enough to start acting responcible and more like an adult.

I'm 28 years old but think 18 year olds still act immature and childish. A 14 year old is most definitely a child. One day, when you're older, you will understand this completely. I'm a mom with a 21 month old daughter and to my mom, I'm still a child some times.

When i was 14 i used to think i was so awesome and so cool and now when i look at other 14yr olds i think that there is no way that i acted like they do or thought like they do, and the sad fact is that i was exactly like they are, young and childish and insistant on the fact that i knew better than anyone else did. so yes most of them are still young and immature and childish to older people but there is always the odd case where the child is not like that and then you have to begin to wonder why.

Hi there i think that 14 years old are classed as a child, but should be given the opportunity to be grown up when the time is right. Not only when they want something, but at most times. Even the oldest person in the world acts childish at times i know i do.

14 yr olds are legally classified as children. In my opinion they are children who are learning to be adults. Like anybody who is learning, sometimes they make mistakes. It is harsh to judge someone as immature & childish without remembering what it was like to be 14 yourself. I was not the most mature person at 14 but I was certainly trying my best to take my place in adult society and a little support rather than being called childish or laughed at would really have helped. Hope you have a good experience of adolescence. Sometimes adults are too busy trying to impress other adults to make a proper judgement anyway & need to get a life. By the way, I was born in 1962 but I can still remember being a kid. Enjoy it while you can, adulthood is not as much fun as you would expect!

it would be wrong for me to generalise and label every 14 year old as immature and childish, as there are some who set a positive example for others of their own age to follow. so the answer is no. when i was 14, i didn't behave immature whatsoever and yet, there are some kids, and others under 14 who do misbehave and act inappropriately. i am currently 25 years old and alas, there are some people in their 20s, 30s and beyond who are immature and childish, so its not the adolescent, abrupt and often rowdy teens who go and cause a riot

Remember, 14-year olds only know what 14-year olds know - and that ain't much outside of their group of friends. That was so for all of us and so it is. They legally minors, not really a child and not yet an adult. It's inbetween time and it is difficult for the teen and their long suffering parents. If you are going to look at yourself and others in the teen years from a biased or prejudicial "older people" point of view you will miss the facts of life. Adults run the whole show, always have and always will. You and your friends will get your chance when you learn all you need to learn in school and follow the guidance and, yes, "orders" of adults, depending upon their role in your life. It is only other 14-year olds who tell each other, "He's so old...My dad will threaten to sue him....I don't have to do what she says....They're so old they don't know nothing...etc."
So write this down and remember it: Adult rule. Minors cooperate and follow rules and laws or they LOSE.
Good luck.

Yes Yes and triple yes!
I lived through one 14 year old and currently surviving another that is 14. 14 is very young still!
At your age the older kids look cool etc. To older people or there parents they are just immature kids.

Age aint nothing but a number, if u are mature then u are a mature 14 yr old who will get alot more respect than a immature 14 year old..unfortunately all the mature ones get dragged under the same catagory as the immature ones...Age sucks, too many people judge you on it...for too many things
