A shekel has lower value than a mina , a mina is equal to 50 shekels , you can have a look at the information below;
These are weights in a measurement unit used during biblical times , the modern day equivalent weights are as below :
1 Shekel is equivalent to 2/5 ounce or 11.5 grams
1 sacred mina: = 60 shekles = 600 g
1 profane mina: = 50 shekels = 500 g
It most commonly refers to an ancient Hebrew unit of weight. As with many ancient units, the shekel represented a variety of values depending on date, domain and region.
It was not worth too much as i can say it was a casic unit of the currency , though you could refer to the jewish encyclopedia reference below for details .
For a modern day interpretation of the value you could consider the israeli shekel.
As of May 3, 2006, 1 US Dollar equals approximately 4.49 NIS (New Israeli Shekel, also referred to as ILS),
1 Euro equals approximately 5.66 NIS, and 1 pound sterling equals approximately 8.22 NIS. There are 100 agorot to a shekel.
Shekel basically was worth the value of its weight n the material it was made of (gold , silver).
I hope this helps you .....

Looks like a mina is defined as 60 shekels by the Sumerians, and 50 shekels by the Greeks. A mina is also defined as being 1/60th of a talent for the Sumerians, so I'd say that the mina is worth more than a shekel, and a shekel would be equivalent to our penny, and a mina would be like our dollar (those are relative values to each other, not to what you could actually buy with a mina or a shekel)
