ABOUT ME- u r wrong. In recognition of the need for human survival the same G-d that made ADAM AND EVE has now ensured human survival by enabling GAYS to procreate. Sperm Banks - Artificial insemination, surrogacy. So the old adam not steve or whatever argument does not cut it.

FREAKZILLA= The serial killer comparison is indicative of your fear of your own sexuality. Dont be afraid of coming out the closet. Its a much nicer place to be than torn between truth, reality and pretense. Good luck friend.

My guess is that they are fearful that a gay marriage will be more stable and loving than the straight version.

There isn't any non-religious reason, short of tradition, that the term marriage refers to a man and a woman. It wouldn't affect family values at all and it would give legally married people rights and responsibilities without having to go through a lawyer to have those rights and responsibility's recognized.
I have known gay people all my life and I never wanted to be gay, and I never got propositions from them. And yes, in my younger years I was (and am for an old lady) considered attractive.
The idea that gay people could be accepted as having loving relationships is frightening to those insecure of their own sexuality. Again, this is speaking of the non-religious, the religious have a whole 'nother bag of tricks with this. Since I have seen what can happen when a partner dies unexpectedly, I think for the sake of just lets get the legality done first, we should be allowed to have gay (and straight) civil ceremonies and religious ones only with the blessing of each church should they want to give it.

Ironically, it would strengthen family values. Many gay people do not believe divorce should be so easy...or marriage for that matter. The movement to protect family values is simply putting their effort in the wrong area. Protect and strengthen family values by recognizing all families and their values and speaking out against people who abuse this.

it would not .could not.
does a straight wife beater affect the family values of others?stop them from marrying?
homophobes need them gays and lesbians to be evil and bad and different. its hard to hate someone who is the same in many ways. must keep them different.
religious right said look at them evil bars whores etc sinners. how can they say that about a nice church going married couple? ( like the ones at my church)
so must deny the right and force them into single what the right needs to be wrong to justify calling them bad/evil.
denial and bigotry require much dysfunctional thought and behaviors and justifications.
see the AA and aca literature to better understand denial and the extreme wrong of the extreme right .

This is how a gay marriage would negatively affect family values:

1. By insisting on trying to fit into the description of normal
2. Friendshiping heterosexual hypocrites
3. Living in shame trying to cover who they are from their children, or
4. Refusing to raise a family for the fear of what the world will think

let's see.
rampant divorce
drunks who are married at drive through chapels by elvis impersonators
domestic violence
game shows that determine who the contestant marries, marriage for money, citizenship, status, etc.
don't hurt marriage, but two people who love each other being allowed to marry will?

makes perfect sense.

It's Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve. If same-sex partnerships were normal they would produce children. Such unnatural unions and sexual acts go against the laws of nature, whether you believe in God or not.
