I came home from work today, and when I opened my door the house was wrecked! Seriously.... Not by me! I start to pick up all my scattered papers and I find close to what seems like a good $5000 on my floor. I dont keep that kind of money laying around. Its not mine. There is no sign of a break in, and I looked around, nothing was taken. What should I do?

DONT TOUCH ANYTHING. get the police involved because they may be able to lift a few prints off of some things. As for the mess...do you have a cat or dog? They could be responsible and the money could have been in your house from the previous owners and your pet could have found it. But, do call the police. There may not have been any signs of a break-in, but there most likely was one. It could be someones sick idea of whats fun.

Good Luck.

First off, immediately change your locks!
Secondly, have you reported the break-in to the police?
Finally, will the $5000 cover the cost of restoring your house (and your sense of security)? I would deduct what is necessary to return your home to its former state and then take some to pump up the overall security (window locks, an alarm system and so on).
And, even though it is NOT your money (I'm surprised I'm saying this!), I'd say nothing to anybody about the "windfall" and bank the rest (as insurance).

It may not appear to be a break-in but they could've covered their tracks very well..I wouldn't touck anything that is out of its place and call the cops to take fingerprints.
As for the cash, take it to the police station or something and see if it's real. I mean, why would someone just leave like 5 gran laying in a house that's not theirs? come on! I think someones trying to set you up. I don't think the cops would believe that someone left 5 gran in your house. but ya never know...they may

If you haven't already, call the cops! Whoever belongs to the money most definitely may be back looking for it. I would get out of the house till the cops arrive, too. Let us know what happens!

Call the cops to come take some fingerprints, someone had to have come into your house.

But if you don't really care, I would check out first and see if it was real money (it could be counterfeit).

If it happened to I would thank the angels
for listening to my prayers, and then pray that it was actually the angel's answering my prayers just in case.

Call the cops. You don't want to keep any money that might have been left by a burglar, he might come back for it!
