you do not need to give power of attorney to get a copy of your divorce papers. contact the county clerk and find out the case number and what the fee is to have a copy sent to you, send them a check and a self addressed stamped envelope. ... if these are divorce papers of a pending divorce action to be served to you, you must accept them in person or by certified mail, either of which you can arrange with the clerk.

if your fiance needs a power of attorney, it is as simple as shown below and that will limit the scope of what your fiance can do...

To whom it may concern,

I, (your full name), hereby give (your fiance's full name) power of attorney to receive on my behalf all official documents pertaining to Divorce Action/Decree (case number) for (your spouses full name) vs. (your full name) filed (date of filing) at (court and county of filing)

(your full name) (witness full name)

(your signature) (witness's signature)

(notary's name)

(notary's signature)

Consult with a lawyer to draw up documents authorizing this person to act on your behalf during your divorce, but you might want to have a trusted friend or family member because your fiance shouldnt be involved with your divorce proceedings. You don't want your soon to be ex spouse to be seeing his soon to be ex wife's new significant other involved in the divorce. Find a trusted family member or friend to handle it because it's less stress and makes it easier to close the chapter in your life faster without your new man involved in this.
