it might be dusty. try getting a can of air at wal-mart or wherever you shop and blow it out. my mom's was noisy, and after i dusted it, it ran quiet again.

and Nate is right also....dells especially are very loud!

Hi, I had a simillar problem and replaced my cpu fan/cooling unit with one from Zahlman Overclockers. It's now running almost silent. You will need to know the cpu type and socket typ and the space in your casing before you choose the size of the fan/cooling unit. Size matters, as bigger fans run slower and therefore give off less noise. Search the web for fan/cooling units to find the above or if you don't fancy all the hassle, just take your old fan out and go to a shop and get a replacement. Hope that helps.

yes you can change fans. but first you need to know wich chipset you have in your pc (the motherboard ) then you find out what cpu socket you have. or if you have fans laying around like me you could juust try them all until you find the right one. most fans are on a ball bearing system, some times need a little lube(very very very little) if it really is a new pc i would take it back and say i wanted a pc not a lawn mower. unless it is out of warranty

ok if u do not wanna go get a new expensive brushless fan for ur laptop then u can get to ur fan and look at the blades u should see some factory plastic mold lines file them downand anything else on the blade onlytry to make it as smooth as possible then u should have a quieter fan.

Some fans are louder than others. I had a dell that sounded like a dish washer. It probably isn't malfunctioning it's just loud. Your best option is to install a new, quieter fan. You can pick one up fairly cheap from tiger direct.

Take canned air to the inside of your computer and blow the dust out of there. If it still makes noise replace the fan.

Hello,

When you a fan gets noisey you should always replace it. I recomend a ball bearing fan because that last a long time compared to solid fitting fans.
