Are you a parent, a student or a teacher? In any case, the NCLB ( no child left behind)laws may dictate that all special equipment be funded through the school district. I know in our state the laws say that a district must supply certain special technology / equipment if it's on a student's IEP. Check the IDEA laws & regulations for special ed students. Get on the website listed below . It should have the info or at least direct you elsewhere.
You should not be paying for any special equipment .

I'm not sure what an FM system is, I assume it would help you and it has been prescribed by a professional.

I would start by going back to the Dr. or expert who evaluated your situation and came up with this answer. They might know agencies that provide grants or assistance to people who cannot afford it. You may also want to do a computer search using your specific diagnosis or condition - there may be private charities organized to help.

To pursue "needs based" assistance you should have copies of tax returns, previous pay stubs, bank account info, bills you pay regularly, and other legal documents made so that you can bring them to the agency with you and have them on hand for filling out forms.

If applying for county, state, or charitable organizations does not work, try contacting the manufacturers or companies who sell this item. They might have programs like the pharmaceutical companies have to provide the item at a reduced cost or free to users. Big companies might even provide the item in return for your participation in studies or research they are doing to improve the product!

Don't be embarassed to ask a social worker or friend to help you get applications filled out and submitted - some support is very helpful as applications can be long, tedious and difficult to understand, it's like they were designed with the agenda to weed out those not persistent enough. I wish you well!

I'm assuming that you are needing the fm system used for hearing assistance? Are you in the U.S.? I might beable to give you some contacts that would at least get you started on the right path. These setups are so expensive!

Email me (spea0080) and maybe together we could think of a good avenue to try.
