Features of language? Newspaper articles are usually written in inverted pyramid style: the meat of the story (the who, what, when, where, and why) is always contained in the first 2-3 paragraphs.

In a news story, it is very important that all content is unbiased. The language should be objective and also not redundant.

Being redundant means using more words than necessary to communicate an idea, i.e. Easter Sunday, hot coffee, tuna fish, free gift, etc.

The last two paragraphs of a news story should only be extra information and/or supporting details. They can be omitted, and not take anything away from the story.

It is a good idea to look at two sides of the argument when writing and article, make sure it is unbias and use facts instead of opinion.
Persuasive language as well as emotive langauge is best to use. Use google for some help or wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Critical_thinking#Overcoming_bias
