Are 4x4 drivers all mighty tosspots? I'm not talking about people who need a 4x4, such as farmers, foresters etc etc (besides, dirt-streaked Land Rovers are the boll*cks), but the middle-class drones who cruise around in their Porsche Cayennes, BMW X5s etc etc. Why on earth would you need one if you're just running the kids to school and calling in on the Polo club?

They guzzle fuel, kill the environment, are almost entirely driven by people who can barely navigate, take up two spaces at the supermarket, and, if you are a male driver, shout 'Look at me- I have a tiny penis so I bought this monstrosity!'. If you are a woman it says, 'Look! I can drive and put on my lip gloss while chatting on the mobile- and still have room to read Tattler!'

WHAT ARE THEY THINKING?!

And...breathe...

I am not a farmer or a forester I am a mature (lol)student studying for a engineering degree and 2 A-levels.
I drive a 1992 Land-Rover Discovey 200TDi it does 30-35 mpg, It is very practical for what I want to do with it and nothing else is as versatile and as economic, It sometimes goes off-road, it pulls trailers, it gets filled with stuff to take to the recycling centre, It has 7 seats so means if we go out with our parents everyone can get in without getting squashed, its not fast or flashy but i8s good on the motorway, it has dents and has done over 140,000 miles, it is good for the environment as it will last a very long time and I can fix it and service it quite easily rather than throwing it away and buying another one like a lot of car owners do, I would run it on cooking oil but thanks to the government the tax I would have to pay on top of the cost of the cooking oil does not make it economic to do so even though running on cooking oil is more environmentally friendly. Also I do live in a Somerset Village, I can navigate (I don't have GPS) and my wife passed her driving test in it and she feels safer it the Land-Rover.
Its a free country (lol) most 4x4's take up no more road space than a large family car like a Ford Mondeo, most Land-Rovers and some other 4x4's have a much much longer life than a modern family car.

Well, in NZ where I come from we suffer from the same sort of thing. The main (yuppy) 4x4 there is a Range Rover. There is a riddle to illustrate the point: What is the difference between a hedgehog and a Range Rover? Answer: With a hedghog all the pri_cks are on the outside. Enough said.

A few words in defence of 4x4.

1. Its a free country, WWII was fought so people had freedom, whereas the Nazis regulated everyone into VW Beetles.

2. Judging people by the number of driven wheels is daft.

3. Its not true that they guzzle fuel and in terms of emissions are they any worse than, a badly maintained 1980's banger, an empty transit van, a bmw m3, a ferrari.

No, what people are objecting to is the size and height, because it makes them feel inferior.
Ps no I dont drive one, but would like to except I know some dimwit would scratch it.

What I hate most is when I return to my modest vehicle in the supermarket car park to find a monstrosity parked either side of it. Unable to see left or right, I have to back out of my space completely blind. If I had supernatural powers the offending monsters would all dissolve in a pool of gunk.
Here's a joke you might enjoy: 'What's the difference between a hedgehog and a 4x4?'
Answer: 'With a hedgehog the pr..ks are on the outside.'

Here are the common reasons these retards give for driving 4 wheel drive vehicles.

1) I need to be able to take the kids to school, summer and winter.
2) have you seen the state of the roads these days?

3) - and the one I personally find most offensive- "If I have an accident I want to come off best".

These people are antisocial misfits who have low self esteem. The answer from young mister "hotfeat" above, just about sums up their immature views.

I couldn't have put it better myself,if half of them could drive it would make things easier.Don't get me wrong,i had a 4x4 myself
and that's when i found out what other road users think of them.
Gone are the days when we used to look at them with admiration or jealousy, now it's keeping you distance ,cos they think they own the road!I don't say they are all the same, but that's the stigma they have now.

Yes they are mighty tosspots. Those drivers who NEED a 4x4 actually know how to drive them and you don't see them on the road often because they are also avoiding these morons who don't need to drive 4x4s.

Have you ever got behind one in the fast lane on the motorway?? they will not move over, they slow down to 50, they weave all over, they cut you off. TOTAL Tosspots!!!! Worse than white van drivers in my opinion!

Um.. Mine runs on gas - very eco friendly. What does your car run on? It also tows boats but only about 5% of the time I use it. The rest of the time it has the essential labrador in the back - you forgot that bit. Oh, and I've never taken up 2 parking places or left no room for the car next door to be entered. BTW I don't wear make-up or read Tattler!!

I drive a Land Rovers Freelander because I'm an outdoor sports man fishing and shooting etc. and need it to get to some fairly rough and remote places, its got a 1.8 engine and probably kicks out the same emissions as a normal family car and i've never had any complaints about my penis !!!!

Don't! I've only recently started driving, but it bugs the hell out of me that even in my small car I have plenty of room; what can these people POSSIBLY need all that space for?

They'll complain about the weather, but it's all down to global warming, which they have a significant part in causing for needing such big engines!!

What's wrong with a normal car? And so many of them drive slowly :@ grrr!!

I love ranting on this topic!
