Yeah, and now I've reached that age I try to do all those things the best I can. But no matter how I try, I find my into the same old jam. Good times, bad times, you know I've had my share. Well, my woman left home for another man and I still don't seem to care.

Oh well.

Yeah man I was, it went a little something like this...
Love your wife like Christ loves the Church. Take care of your family no matter what.
Have a piece of humble pie every day.
Look for a lower seat, not the best, leave that for the elderly.
Help
Volunteer
Be punctual
Work Hard to preserve your integrity.
Hang out with older, wiser men.

And a lot of other things. I love my dad man, and the rest of the men at my church that have helped me.

When I was young I was shown that a "man" is "A MAN". Stong, DOESN'T cry or get all girly, doesnt talk about their emotions or feelings, the "MAN" was the one who does the "man-ly" things around the house, etc.

I've learned from seeing and growing up that a "MAN" is more than just that stuff, they take care of the ones they love.

Oh, yeah. My grandfather took me aside and carried on for nearly an hour. He didn't make it sound like any fun at all. That's why I recommend staying a kid till you're 35 or so. After that, you're not interested in having a good time anyway.

Not directly...but we did have to read Duddy Kravitz by Mordecai Richler. In it Duddy is told that he is not considered to be a man unless he owns real estate.

Mordecai Richler taught me everything I need to know. Others too, of course.

Not really, my father didn't teach me much about being a man. It was more about doing what he said or get spanked with the belt.
Thanks for dredging up those memories.
