This is definitely weird, but wait.... just think of those visits to the in laws for Sunday lunch - every time you're just about to tuck into your roast beef, pa in law leaps out of the window, gun in hand, screaming, chasing some bad guys.....could be more interesting than the average duty visit!

Good luck, but don't waste too much of your precious time. I don't think any father would be impressed for long if his son-in-law married his daughter for any reason than truly loving her, not him.
