You can cheer for whomever you want. What gets people really mad is when you are a front runner, changing your team based on whatever team is winning that year.
I can guarantee that if you are cheering for the Jets, you cannot be classified as a front runner.

I agree with the first person, in saying that you shouldn't be a fair weather fan --it's ok to get mad at you team, but as long as you've got hope (if not for the current season, then for the future)
I don't know how the fans some of the leagues loosinest teams can handle it though.

Yes it is. There is no unwritten rule of being a sportfan that says you have to like the local team. It cool if you do, especially if they are good, but a true sportsfan likes sports. And whatever draws you to a team go with it. Like I feel sorry for Chicagoans the pulls for the Cubs.

Sure, you can root for any team you want! Most people will root for their state team, but others come to like another team, and yet others will be fair weather fans who will go with the team that is winning at the moment.

I know what you mean. When I moved from Louisiana to North Carolina the Panthers did not exist. I have been a Saints fan all my life and I'm not going to change even if the Saints never go to a superbowl and the Panthers win 10 of them back to back.

No, there is a federal law banning people from rooting for a team from outside their state.

Don't listen to your friends. You can like whatever team you like. Its gotten to a point in sports, and media where you can follow any team from anywhere.

YES, as long as you stick with the team and not change your favorite every year.
Don't be a fair weather fan.
