do u know why the divorce rate is so much lower in an arranged marraige? BECAUSE THE PEOPLE WHO MOSTLY FOLLOW THIS STUPID "TRADTIONS" ARE USUALLY INDIANS, ARABS etc. and guess what? the families of the newlyweds often FORBID divorce and sometimes, the wife is too scared to divorce because after she gets divorced she'll be giving her family a bad reputation. and will NEVER be proposed to because of the divorce, So don't come up with that crap statistics.

I can't judge people for their actions. Everyone is different and they are entitled to their beliefs and decisions as well as you. I think that life has a plan, and everything happens for a reason. Sometimes you never know what the future will bring. What I'm trying to say is that I have met people that had arranged marriages and end up more in love than people who have know each other for years and think they had to be deep in love to marry. YOU of course are entitled to you opinion and I respect that you DON'T agree with arranged marriages, but STUPID is a very strong and harsh word in my vocabulary. GOOD LUCK!

why? Let us assume that the two people involved have similar background, both educationally and culturally. They often live in the same town. Is it so different then meeting someone unplanned? Your intrest would increase as you got to know that they had the same hopes, fears and dreams you did. By setting this up before, parents are actually helping the kids nby getting past all the beginning stupidity. And by the way, I am not Indian.

To those who beleive in arranged mariages, it's not so stupid. For instance, the guy above thinks religion is stupid because he does not beleive.

In my personal opinion, arranged marriages go against the purpose god intended for the institution of marriage. Basically it wipes out the love factor and thrives on companionship overall.

I think who better to find you the true mate of your life than the parents who gave you life? Although my parents aren't arranging my marriage, I respect those who do the arranged marriage route, seems it has just as good a chance at working out.

Personally I think the way we do it is not working too great either. We confuse our hormones with love. In an arranged marriage, the people grow to love each other. And their divorce rate is WAAAAAYY lower than ours. So??

a few months ago I was in the U.A.E.....united Arab emirates
I asked that same question .......the Pakistanis and locals I asked
had their marriages arranged by their parents .....almost all of them were for it......and grilled me about the way we marry in the us...seems like here in the USA we have one of the highest divorce rates in the world....while most of the folks I had talked to had been married for decades and were happy......now to be fair everyone I talked with were males.....didn't get the female perspective at all....
peace

NO! Look how many marriages end when they had known each other for a long period of time. Maybe we should look closer at this type of marriage.

I'd go for an arranged marriage right about now, considering all the girls I hang out with are stuck up morons.
