He is staying via last weeks press conference. He will manage his finally year of his contract and retire. I think he has had enough of Steinbrenner even if he has never said it publicly.

Yes. Torre is history in New York. It doesn't matter that the Yankees have won NINE straight division titles. He didn't win the World Series even after Big George paid out all that cash to so many overrated players, especially the pitchers. He will be held responsible, but he has done a great job in New York.

Chow!!

Hard to say. I have heard that early on Cashman says no, but things change. If they are thinking of replacing him with Lou Pinella, good luck. He's another Billy Martin and the fans and media will be treated to a year in the Bronx Zoo, part 2.

I like Joe, his demeanor has always been calm, and I think that his players have alot of repect for him. However, his complacency may have cost him his job.

It's a shame that Joe has fallen into the "what have you done for me lately" category. Managers get praised or blamed for how the players perform on the field. It's a shame that he's probably gonna go, because the best line-up ever put on the field couldn't get the job done.

He should not be. In 11 years, he has 11 playoff appearances and has won the World Series 4 times.

I'm afraid so. Managers get fired for alot less than a team getting eliminated in the first round of the playoffs - he hasn't managed them to a World Series victory in a long time: great regular season but who cares if they can't keep the pace in the playoffs? Bye Joe- thanks for the memories.

More than likely. But don't worry after he gets fired, he'll have a new job within a week if he wants it. There are more than just a couple of managerial positions open. Look for him to wind up in Texas - they can afford him since he won't come cheap.

steinbrenner has decided to keep him as manager....but since he has one year left on his contract, it will be highly unlikely he will be renewing his contract if the yankees dont win it all next year....its also possible that he would decide to retire after next year especially if they win it all,,,sort of like going out in a blaze of glory
