I obviously need to get out more, did not know of the definition of "emo". However having researched the word, for anyone who is still unenlightened, read this:
Genre of softcore punk music that integrates unenthusiastic melodramatic 17 year olds who dont smile, high pitched overwrought lyrics and inaudible guitar rifts with tight wool sweaters, tighter jeans, itchy scarfs (even in the summer), ripped chucks with favorite bands signature, black square rimmed glasses, and ebony greasy unwashed hair that is required to cover at least 3/5 ths of the face at an angle.
Sometimes you can be glad of what your missing!

just because they are emo doesnt mean that they cant offer hugs. emo is a subgenre of hardcore but has very powerful emotional lyrics usually screamo is added and the people who listen to it are emo. they are people who are seen as depressed , "i hate the world" people and are very emotional. some cut. and blah blah. i know many emos and i listen to a lot of emo music.

I would become emo just to do that... but I don't know emo people >_<

Because Emos and Goths tend to be nice middle class or honest working class kids!! Chav scum just hurl abuse at strangers and cause discomfort and misery everywhere. That would have been quite refreshing to see!!
