clean it.
Too much dust will kill your power supply.
Dust around the processors will stop the heat sinks working properly and the whole thing will overheat. This will slow the operation down if you have intelligent temp sensing the CPU speed will drop to allow cooling and if not it may just die.

Dust can affect your computers performance if left untreated over a long period of time. The fans in the PC are supposed to draw cool air from the front of the case, and blow warm air out of the back. A large build-up of dust can cause blocks, not just in the air vents preventing a movement of air, but also around the fans resulting in the fans slowing down and not blowing enough air out.

If the fans performance are impaired, the hardware device which the fan is attached to, starts to overheat which can lead to a loss of PC performance, crashes, and even the hardware device becoming damaged beyond repair.

The areas where dust seems to collect the most are around any type of fan: on the processor, the power unit, the system fan in the back or sides of the case, and on the graphics card and motherboard depending on the hardware in the computer. Dust builds up on the heatsink underneath the fans, and the heatsink is what is supposed to dissipate heat from the hardware device. Dust can also build up around the working hard drive and CD drives, causing potential system problems and hardware failure.

If the environment is naturally dusty, then it would be a case of cleaning the PC out regularly. Don't try and block any of the vents in the case, as they are needed for air movement. Make sure you have a system fan attached to the back or side of the case, this will allow more air movement to cool down the PC.

Take off the case cover, making sure you have an anti-static wristband attached to either an anti-static mat, a grounding plug, or the case itself. Make sure the case is on a wooden or tiled surface to reduce the risk of anti-static problems. Use a non-static cloth such as a tissue to gently wipe any excess dust from inside the PC. Cotton wool buds are ideal for cleaning in tight places. If you are experienced enough, you can unscrew and remove any fans and heatsinks to completely clean them out. One final very good piece of equipment is compressed air in a can. This has a long plastic tube on allowing you to blow dust out of tight places, although it can be expensive considering it is just compressed air.

Hope this helps.

Yes, eventually you will have problems with impromptu crashing and restarts from it overheating inside. Turn it off at the wall then take the side off and give the inside a good vacuum to remove all that lovely insulation fluff and dust from the motherboard and processor fan, also the power unit collects a goodly amount. Make sure you use a brush attachment to clean the inside, sucking wires out is not a good move!

Dust will eventaually make the fan on the proecessor colg up and wont function properly the same with the case fan, go to MAPLIN.CO.UK (or MAPLINS), and you can buy 'air in a can', take toe computer o/side and clean the dust out with this, BETTER STILL, take the case off, and do it that way !!!!

dirt can impression your computers overall performance if left untreated over a protracted volume of time. The followers interior the computing device are meant to entice cool air from the front of the case, and blow heat air out of the back. a brilliant build-up of dirt would reason blocks, no longer in basic terms interior the air vents struggling with a stream of air, yet additionally around the followers ensuing interior the followers slowing down and not blowing sufficient air out. If the followers overall performance are impaired, the hardware gadget which the fan is expounded to, starts off to overheat that can bring about a loss of computing device overall performance, crashes, or maybe the hardware gadget turning out to be broken previous restoration. The aspects the place dirt seems to deliver jointly the main are around any variety of fan: on the processor, the skill unit, the device fan interior the back or factors of the case, and on the pics card and motherboard reckoning on the hardware interior the laptop. dirt builds up on the heatsink below the followers, and the heatsink is what's meant to burn up warmth from the hardware gadget. dirt may additionally advance around the working confusing stress and CD drives, inflicting skill device problems and hardware failure. If the ecosystem is definitely dusty, then it can be a case of cleansing the computing device out often. do no longer attempt and block any of the vents interior the case, as they are necessary for air stream. be sure you have a device fan related to the back or part of the case, this could enable extra air stream to cool down the computing device. Take off the case hide, making specific you have an anti-static wristband related to the two an anti-static mat, a grounding plug, or the case itself. determine the case is on a wood or tiled floor to shrink the possibility of anti-static problems. Use a non-static textile which contains a tissue to gently wipe any extra dirt from interior the computing device. Cotton wool buds are appropriate for cleansing in tight places. while you're experienced sufficient, you may unscrew and get rid of any followers and heatsinks to thoroughly sparkling them out. One very final very solid piece of kit is compressed air in a can. This has a protracted plastic tube on allowing you to blow dirt out of tight places, even nevertheless it quite is high priced pondering it quite is in basic terms compressed air. desire this facilitates.

well if you like to burnt down your CPU it's okay;if you like to run it smoothly..always keep dust free,Use the anti-static which picks up dust and gently cleans away fingerprints, which can helps prevent build-up of static charges.Use Endust a spray.never use air blow-up!Blocked vents can cause heat build-up, which is a leading cause of equipment failure.Endust remove dust from around air vents may prolong the life of your equipments and helps minimize costly repairs or replacements.

If the dust blocks the cooling, the cpu or power supply could overheat,
it must be really dusty?
It probably has a thermal cutout.

yes. computers need air blown over them to cool them down. alot of dust = alot of dust gets sucked up into your computer. this will eventually impair the computers ability to cool itself down. the solution is to put filter material over the vent where the air goes in.

Dust is ok, unless it catches fire because of the heat that processor generates.

But if environment is too hot, processor can automatically shut down when it reaches max processor temperature.

yes it can over heat because dust clogs up the free flow of air causing components on the mother board to over heat. and also clogs the fan as well.
