People come to England to discover it's history, culture and entertainment... Foreigners (Horrible word) embrace their homeland tradition and culture when living in England. Why do English people leave England in order to forget their Culture and Heritage? (Someone asked me this, thought it was worth a wider response)

If that is the case, why does Torremelinos look like Bognor? The English seem very happy to remember [some of] their culture when abroad.

Who said that English people only ever leave to forget England's culture and heritage? And who said that all foreigners DON'T embace the English culture and heritage when they come here?

Many people leave their homeland for reasons that have nothing to do with wanting to reject their culture and many English people are happy to take their culture with them wherever they go.

May be when they think of England ,they are reminded that the culture that's here in England is full of social class's, people refuse to see themselves as just people,we all have to be "working class "(many people claim to be this),people of lower social standing are misunderstood or called chavs by the upper classes.Upper and middle classes think and call themselves working class too,but they still think lower earners or disadvantaged people are somehow beneath them.I was running a toddler group on the edge of a council estate, the middle class mums refused to allow there children to mix with the ruffer kids from the estate. They where birth to three year olds.May be people want to forget things like that. or may be they dont want any longer to mix with people of lower value to them. They don't like the way things are here.after all we are a mixed cultured, mixed race, religion, ethnicicity and mixed historic country.who'd want to live with all that?

I'm not sure this is true. I am an ex-pat Englishman who has lived in Mexico for 12 years. We (the small Brit community) still embrace and are proud of our heritage. You should have seen us in the bar yesterday watching the England game!

These views are strictly mine and requested to be viewed with humour... Perhaps because the English are conscious of their misdeeds as Colonisers during which time they practised cultural Imperialism as well. But periods of appeasement are cyclical and this is evident in a resurgence of identity. Besides, boiled and bland potatoes and a dismal weather are easy to leave behind for sunnier skies and aromatic cooking ;-)

Maybe it's something they didn't like about it. And it's not just the English. People migrate for various reasons...
-they want something else-a different way of living
-they're interested in other people's cultures
-they're running from something
-they're bored of the status quo
-they think life will be better somewhere else
-etc... etc..

You know? That IS a great question.
It seems unique among some of you British folks.
I equate an English accent with living in L.A. almost as much as when I travel England.
Kinda weird huh?

pip pip cheerio!

That's like everyone...
They leave behind their own culture and heritage to find a better way to live...

Perhaps they are quiet happy to integrate into the Country they've decided to reside in by embracing its culture and language.
Although there are those who also like their home comforts.
