Here's the thing. My wife...soon to be ex-wife, once the divroce goes through...has been seeing a guy behind my back. She also chats with him on AIM. I've got a chat logger to monitor what they are saying. OK, now, i know her email and computer password. Since I am technically the administrator for the house, is it legal for me to access her computer? I found some picutres of her and another girl naked that I know she sent to the other guy...plus that girl's boyfriend.

well, i was kinda suspicious to begin with. she also used my pc before and left her email on auto-logon. so when i went to gmail it went right to her account. i saw that there was an email saying she created a new account. so, that's when i made the decision. i guessed that it was the same password...and found an email where she sent an AIM convo with the guy to the girl. basically i am gathering dirt to show the judge at the trial so that i don't get screwed. that's why i asked about it being legal or not.

Hey there is no law governing what you should and should not do with your pc at home when it comes to multiple users on the same computer.
You could also have accessed the same info/pics without "logging" into her user asccount. Try goin into C:\Documents and Settings and you wil find folders there with names of the other users on that computer.
And yes, moral or not, it helped you make a life altering decision, and you made the right one.
Good luck.

You said 'her' computer. Assuming there are at least 2 computers in the home, I think you would need to the administrator on 'her' computer to legally access the files on it. Now as far as her email, even though you know her password, that's probably illegal to access her account. But like one of the other responders pointed out, if you're in the process of getting a divorce why bother.

My brother monitors the use of all the computers being used at his place of employment. It's his job. He has actually filed some criminal charges against those who are using the computers illegally (ie - child porn). If it's legal for him to monitor the use of computers at a work site, I would imagine you could do the same in your own home.

Would it be moral no it would not but it would not be illegal either. Why do you care anyway when you gonna divorce her. Find yourself a girl online and get a cam, strip for her and make you soon to be ex wife jealous lol j/k mate ....

Really its both your computer since its in your house so I would say legally you have a right to access the files on it.
Morally it isn't right but I can understand why you did it.

i want to know something ?
u going to divorce her because of that
or u were going to divorce here from the beginning
because in the first case u have the right to monitor her and see what she is doing
in the second case u were going to divorce her from the beginning so she have the right to search for other guys and u dont have the right to monitor her

I am not a lawyer, but if that computer is in your house I think you can pretty much do anything you want with it. that includes spying.
