I don't think most Americans dislike muslims. We are understandably fearful of muslim terrorists like Osama Bin Laden and the other Al queda thugs. However, since 9/11/01, many Americans are wary in general of muslims. In your own country, French of Arab backgrounds have also caused much mayhem in cities recently. Reasonable people don't like rioting or violent behavior no matter what a person's ethnic background is.

Now, as a Frenchman, you must have some thoughts about Algeria or Morocco. But in those areas, the problem arose because of colonialism. After the fall of Dien Bien Phu in French IndoChina. many French were killed as an aftermath. The dislike, hate, fear is not so different than those thoughts. Now, that there seems to be an alliance between Algerians and Middle-Eastern terrorists against France, you should be able to draw a parallel and understand the American viewpoint. During the Second World War, many loyal French were supportive or active against the Nazis while others were harmless people. The underground struck at the Germans and vanished without trace...and because of these guerillas, the Germans took extreme measures...killing many to attempt to stop those attacks....the guerillas looked like ordinary people...behaved like ordinary people....so now, we have the same situation...who is good and who is bad. People are fearful and it is better to be safe than sorry. Is it good? No, it is not....but terrorists don't wear special terrorist uniforms, or have a distinctive tattoo on their foreheads or act differently. People in America have enjoyed safety for a long time and now that is threatened by the Muslims. I am an American and I have many Muslim friends (I live in China where there are many Muslims from the northwestern part of China)...perhaps by the nature of the government here, we co-exist peacefully...and I am certain that other intelligent Americans have Muslim friends too....but most people haven't met or had the chance to learn that Muslims want the same things in life that Christians or Buddhists want too...but today people are afraid.

Hello i am American and i have no problems with any muslim people. Some Americans are frightened of muslims because now there is this stereotype against them after the 9/11 attacks on our country. I do understand their worries but i do not share those because i am confident that my country will keep me safe the best they can.You must put yourself in the shoes of an American man that sent his wife off to work at the world trade center on 9/11 and found out she was killed as a result of a terror attack set on America by Muslim people. Now everybody wearing a turban or with a olive complextion dark hair and an accent makes this man feel very angry and upset because he automatically puts this person to be involved with the terrorist attacks that killed his wife. Alot of americans have this problem now and to a point it is understandable, just think about it,you may or may not agree.

I am an American and have nothing against a muslim. Nor do I know too many Americans who do not like muslims.

The thing we do not like is being attacked in our own country by a group that arose out of the muslim world. We in America are beginning to lose any respect we had for the Muslim religion since it (Islam) teaches its people to murder and kill innocent people. It even allows the murder of other muslims because they are peaceful or they do not act and dress in the manner that some religious leader says they should.

The muslim religion, and thus muslims, are also beginning to lose any respect in America because it does or says nothing to oppose such actions. Silence by all other muslims and Islam means that they agree with the radicals and are against anything and everything American.

So, most Americans are beginning to see the whole Muslim world against America.

Though I believe your premise is incorrect, one reason could be the behavior observed in FRANCE with the anti-social behavior of muslim youth last year. (I would attribute this more to "youth" than "muslim" however.)
