Sorry, folks, but this subject is too hot to keep closed, so I'm re-opening it. As far as I'm concerned, Mark Foley is no more gay than Barney Frank is straight. It really galls me that there are too many people who cannot tell the difference between homosexuality and pedophilia.
I'm a blogger and I've found absolutely NO EVIDENCE that Mark Foley has ever had an ADULT male companion -- and no one I've spoken to who knows him and assumed that he was gay can recall Foley having an adult male companion, either.
Face it, the dude was a PEDOPHILE, not a GAY MAN. Gay men have relationships with MEN, not with BOYS. ADULTS who have sex with KIDS are PEDOPHILES -- PERIOD!
The idiot who posted that ridiculous comment about men raping boys as part of being gay must either be a member of the pedophile group NAMBLA or is a homophobic bigot. Only a pedophile or a homophobe would come up with such a ridiculous statement.

I agree! the Republican party claims to be the "moral" party...and now, we find out about yet more cover-ups! they've been protecting this freak for years! they are playing the gay card in a lame attempt to divert attention away from the fact that he's nothing but a pedophile...and needs to be locked away! (as do all the ones who've been protecting him all this time as well).
too many people seem not to be able to tell the difference between homosexuality and pedophilia.

Denial of his sexuality, the fact that his victims were exclusively male, does NOT add any credibility to "our" side.
Homosexual men are just like every other person on this planet, most are really simply trying to get along but every so often there is a real monster in the bunch. Jeffery Dahmer, from all accounts was gay, but did that mean that the gay community rallied behind him? No, just the opposite. Same type situation here. It does no good to deny, in fact it does just the opposite, it makes us look disingenuous in our dealings with the country and the issues of the day.

This is a can of worms. Foley likes them young, but pedophilia is a very questionable accusation, as the "men" he chased were of marginal age. Do I approve of him...NOT NO, BUT HELL NO! As he ages, the targets will become younger and younger. The REAL issue here is COVER UP by the Republican Party...they have known about the man for years...and APPOINTED him as chair for a committee to clean up the Internet against Internet preditors!!! There is the real issue. A Party that knowingly puts the fox in charge of the hen house is a disgrace, and NOW they are trying to make it a spin of homosexuality! This party lies, cheats, robs, and kills! Count the number of dead in Iraq, a Republican war. Look at the greed in Cheney...he is STILL employed by Halliburton, the largest sole bidder for equipment and services in this war! Look at Rice....there is strong evidence that she and the administration were warned about the Trade Towers fully 6 months prior to the event! The Republicans are the most arrogant of people, their way is the only way, and they stop at nothing to achieve their personal agenda..enriching the rich on the backs of the poor. Gay my butt! This is a Republican effort to get our minds off the war, the economy, the monsterous national debt they have created. But, as usual, the American public will buy anything..hell, they elected Bush not once, but TWICE. We get what we deserve...we are going down a one way path to destruction of our way of life. NOW the Republicans want to change the Constitution to fit their agenda. What they are really affraid of is a sweep by Dems and the following empeachment hearings that are sure to follow. I understand your arguement. People call him gay because of the gender of his target. I know that because a man is gay does not make him a pedophile.
It seems he is more worried about being perceived as gay.
I think I would be more worried about being known as a pedophile.
