As I see it, the absence of innocence is the presence of experience. So, with that in mind I would have to say yes, one must lose innocence to have compassion.
When someone is suffering in some way, we either link to a time when we were suffering, or we imagine this type of suffering coming to us at some point in our lives. When we show compassion we are thinking of all the things we have learned throughout life... "One hand washes the other." "You scratch my back and I'll scratch yours." "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." ...So, when we are compassionate towards another person, we are really thinking of the compassion that someone will show us in the future. Planning for the future comes from experience.

It sounds as if you are making a huge leap with that question. Can you have compassion on a sick child? Can you have compassion on a hungry kitten?
What kind of innocence are you talking about? Virginity? Optimism? Trust?
There is not a necessary connection between those concepts. If you were more specific, my answer might change. Or not....

In order not to be innocent one must lost compassion. I don't know about you, but I was born compassionate. I became less compassionate when I got jaded. It's an uphill struggle to keep one without the other.

Not necessarily. In order to have empathy, one must lose his/her innocence. Understanding and caring that people are having trouble does not mean you have to have been through the same ordeal yourself.

It takes some experience in living to learn compassion, but if we completely lose our innocense it is a sad thing.
