It all depends on how long you choke them.... Smurfs turn from blue to royal blue to dark blue to midnight blue to very dark purple. After dark purple they die....
(An interesting side note: Snorks (no matter what color they start out as) go through the same color transitions when you choke them too!)

I think it either turns darker blue or light purple
