I am a manager at a gas station. I am on salary right now which is 325.00 weekly (before taxes). my problem is that I am expected to fill in shifts and i am sometimes pushing 70 hours a week. Is there anything i can do about this?

If you are on salary, you don't get paid for overtime, as hourly workers would, but presumably you get benefits that hourly workers don't. You might want to see about going on hourly status, if you're regularly putting in those kinds of hours, or think about applying at other gas stations that might pay more.

I've seen this happen with restaurant manager's. if your on salary your considered contract labor.and that's why companies do that. they know manger's end up working long hour's and they either won't or can't afford to pay for the amount of hours you put in. it's cheaper for them.. you can < ask to be payed by the hour. but they won't. or ask for a raise .maybe they will. maybe not. you can call your local labor board and lodge a compliant. say your not even making minimum wage by the hour. and they might tell you the legalities of your situation.and could help you.maybe not. could get you fired. and then you could go on unemployment.making about 70% of that 325 and set at home till it runs out. and then find ya a new job, keep in mind that they are going to won't to know what happened at your last one.

They are using you and I think you should look for employment elsewhere. You do have experience in management and if you work just 40 hours a week, 325.00 per week is only 8.13 per hour. You can do better.

If you salery, then you are stuck. If you are paid hourly, then you can put in for overtime. Why don't you hire another person full or part time to take up the needed hours.

If you are salaried then you are not eligible for overtime.
