Mostly because the owner of the Dolphins, Wayne Huizenga, also owned the Marlins until 1998 and had the team sign a long-term lease on the stadium while he still owned them.

They both swim in the same ocean(s.) Why not play in the same stadium? One of these reason may be that the city doesn't want to build a arena/stadium just for the Marlins. I may be wrong, but I thought that the owner had the team up for sale, which would explain why they don't have their own place.

They are from the same area and just happen to use the same stadium. I believe it is called Pro Player Stadium and not Dolphins Stadium anyway. Baseball and Football teams have used the same stadiums frequently in the past, although it is not as common now.

because no one wants to pay for a stadium just for the marlins, its to much money in a town that does not go to many games of baseball. its a basketball town now. and a football town.
