I open doors all the time, for anyone and everyone. It's a kind gesture and 98% of people appreciate it. Especially those people that are able bodied. A small gesture of kindness can make someone elses day. Never worry about it, just do what you feel is right.

grab hold of the door handle - push down, if necessary and push or pull accordingly
alternatively
either push or pull the door
either proceedure should work in opening the door

they are tricky things doors, is it automatic? is it a push door? is it a pull door? why is it revolving?
your best bet is to loiter around until someone opens it for you,that way you save the embarrassment of pushing instead of pulling and so on..... good luck man!

If the person is carrying packages or pushing a baby stroller, I say yes. If it is a able bodies person, they can open their own door.

Sometimes there is a clue. The word 'push' or 'pull' may be on a label on the door.
