Yesterday my 6 week old daughter could not stop eating, she only ate like 2-3 ounces at a time, but ate like every hour, she usually eats 4-6 ounces every 3-4 hours a day, then last night she spit up and it was very mucusy. Today she hasn't eaten but maybe 4 ounces all day and spits up every time and has looks really mucusy. Is she sick? Is this normal? I have never seen the mucus in there before?

I did take the baby to her doc, and they took blood and a chest x-ray. All was normal. So for the spitting up, she said she may have a little bit of reflux, so she told me to put a little less than a teaspoon of rice cereal in every bottle. It will make the formula a little thicker, thus less likely for her to spit up. So far she has had 3 bottles this way, and has not spit up once!

Call your pediatrician--if she normally doesn't spit up or have mucous she probably has a bug.

Call the pediatrician. Does she seem to have a cold? If so, she could be swallowing the mucous. Also, has she pooped regularly? And make sure she gets a good burp after each feeding. Don't ever give up on that. I am thinking she may be constipated. The natural reaction is to feel like your still hungry even though it isn't true. Call her pediatrician and take her in. Is she running a fever? If not, check her bowel movements and keep track. If she is, get her in to the doc's office. Good luck.
p.s. Sometimes, babies can be teething even at that early age. Heck, some are born with teeth. Maybe her painful little gums have her seeking any kind of comfort she knows, which could be sucking or gumming on a nipple. Good luck.

When you say "eating" I hope you mean drinking breastmilk or formula only. My daughter never really spit up and I never saw mucus. I would give a call to the doctor's office or check in your baby books to make sure that this is normal. Good luck!

Does she seem stuffy? Maybe she has a little bit of a cold. She might be having a hard time eating if her nose is stopped up but still be hungry enough to want to eat. That would explain the mucus too.

It sounds like she is getting sick. You might want to schedule her a doctors visit. Or at least call the doctor and they might tell you what type of medicine to try and get her feeling better.
