No-one knows for sure, because so many of them are not registered anywhere.
As far as I know, there is no national collection agency for this statistic, and even then, the count would be down to -say- hostel staff going out and counting the rough sleepers - if they can find them
So it's all down to semi-informed guesswork, I'm afraid
