Why won't my ipod be recognized?

Please help! I own an Ipod Nano. Itunes does not recognize it nor does it have any options in the Preferences etc about ipods. My Ipod is shown in my Computer. I cannot add any songs onto it because of Itunes not recognizing it, and Itunes has never recognized it..on My computer. On other computers it is recognized. I seem to have tried everything. Recently when I open Itunes and have my Ipod plugged in there is an error message about the Ipodservice Module encountering a problem. Help!
