Cold water rinse and white vinegar (no softener as this only helps retain soap in clothes). Vinegar leaves no odor, breaks down residual soap, and is MUCH cheaper than fabric softeners. Vinegar is a wonder product for so many things. I use this all the time, but I also rinse clothes twice. If you want that fabric softener smell, throw a dryer sheet in the dryer with clothes.

Cold Rinse. Try it when you do dishes or wash your hands in the bathroom next time. Try to get suds and then run the hot water...they will rise and bubble....Cold will dissolve it quicker.
