a.) Our intestinal systems need a certain amount of bulk to operate correctly. Pills alone, or even pills and water will not accomplish this.
b.) It would not be cost effective- in order to contain every nutrient needed in a small, stable form, the thing would have to be so engineered that the ingredients and processing costs would run the price up.
c.) No one would buy it. People enjoy eating. It is a true pleasure in life. Trillions of dollars are spent on it in one way or another because we LIKE doing it.
d.) We already have 'emergency ration bars' that you can live on for a while- no one particularly likes using the stuff because it is not 'food' as we want it to be.

I've often though about this. I think it's a good idea. I mean, I would still want to enjoy meals w/friends and family and enjoy and savor the taste of a juicy steak.
But there are times that eating is just a chore. The problem with this is that your stomach would still feel hungry. Enless the pill satisfies hunger and all nutrients that the body needs it would be useless.

I totally think that people like to eat food too much. I certianly wouldn't take a pill, if there was food around. Then that is one less thing in the world to enjoy.

I'm of two minds on this; on the one hand it would curb overeating and obesity, but on the other hand one of the things I enjoy about life is when I eat, TASTING the food, and it would be a shame to lose that.

i have always wondered that question too. I asked my science teacher once but she accused me of being on drugs. anyway i think it would be a good idea for scientists to start researching into these things as the earth gets more populated.

G*d, if we come to that then what in the world is the point in living? If we don't have time to enjoy a meal, we don't have time to do anything FUN like hang with our friends and such.
