I'm myself no matter who I am in the presence of. I don't care if you don't like me....I am who I am. Even if the president were to walk up to me right now - he would get nothing more, nothing less.
The internet wasn't created for people to hide behind, or for people to create some false persona about themselves.
Your charicter is who you are in the dark. If you can act the way you do on your computer, and have it not be your real self, perhaps you have a bit of life evaluation to do. You obviously want to be the person you claim to be - so why not make those changes in your life to suit your obvious needs?
This IS real life, people. I don't care if it IS on the computer. People here ask real life questions, and need real life answers. People on here deal with real life issues, and need real life help. People need the internet to deal and work through real life things. You can see, feel and physically use your computer. How is it not real life? Because you have the security of a screen to hide your true identity? If that was the case, is it not real life when you're on the phone, or you write a letter? Think about this. It only makes sense.
And to all the people who say they are themselves and really aren't....that's called being fake and a liar. The world has too many of you to deal with anyway. Stop adding to that population. Just like the lady above me said - even my avitar looks like me.

I do, actually.
It's a liberating experience.
This place gives us the opportunity to communicate without having to worry about who we irritate or upset, offend or please. It's fer sher that nobody here can relegate me to the doghouse in any meaningful sense. So I can be as arsey as I like, if the mood takes me, and just air my views without having to give a damn about it.
And if I find a question too awkward or intrusive I can just wander on by it without so much as looking back.
I'd guess the only people who might be in to deception are those who make it quite painfully obvious that they're after some kind of peculiar online thing.
I've never seen so many studly studs and studious studettes in one place as I have seen in various parts of Q&A.
Or so many hormonally frazzled delinquents pretending to be grown ups.
It's all so insanely enjoyable though.
