She can ask anything. Whether you have to do anything about it is you question. I'd try to negotiate with her. Why does she want them gone? Is it the leaves? Tell her you'll rake them up.
If all else fails ask your city or county prosecutor if legally you have to.

I think a lot of this is based on your state or local laws. It is probably best to contact your city/state for information. However, in most cases if your branches extend into his yard - he would be able to trim what is in his property line, but not have the ability to remove your tree. That being said I'm sure what applies here might not where you are from :)

She has the right to trim them. But you do not have to do anything. Since there are many common laws that allow for these types of things it is always best to check with your city.
Since you live in a town home make sure you actully own the land outside your home and that you have the right to trim the tree and that it isnt upto the homeowners assoc.

Yes. You would ask the same if the tree intruded over your patio. Besides the electric, phone, and cable company without your permission will cut your tree branches if they interfere with the lines.

Absolutely true: If the tree is on your property, your neighbor does not like the branches, then they can trim the branches encroaching their property line, at their cost.
But, if the tree is old and there exists a possibility that it can fall on their house then you could be held liable.

Wow. Our neighbor just asked about not just trimming our oleander tree, but she would pay to have it removed. (It drops stuff everywhere) We said sure! We never liked it anyway.
As far as asking, sure they have the right. And they probably (depending on where you are) have the right to trim anything right up to the property line. I'd be calling the city just to check though.

Anyone can ask anyone anything. The issue here is that you are neighbors and have to live next to each other prob ye for a long time. It sounds like you have compromised with them already and may need to some more. Legally you need to read your city's codes and come to some conclusions , its nice to have happy neighbors.

They can cut your trees themselves, but if damage is done to the tree it can cause them trouble. You're in a townhouse complex...that is "strata" shared property, I would check it out as I dont think she can do anything re: your trees.

I'd trim them. What if.....she got hurt if one fell or what if one put her eye out. To save myself from lawsuits, I'd trim the branches back.
