I was just hired for employment and i'm 16 weeks pregnant. I haven't started to show MUCH. I know they say NOT to tell potential employers you're pregnant until after the interview, so I didn't. My question now is, when do i say something? I don't want it to get to the point where i'm OBVIOUSLY pregnant and THEY say something to ME about it. Would rather have it the other way around. Any information on HOW to tell my now employer?

It is illegal for them to take action against you because of a pregnancy, so have the power, so to speak. I would be honest with them and put a plan in place right now. Address your boss and say you want to be fair to them and let the company know that you are expecting. Then lay out your plan... "I plan to work up until the time the baby comes, then take 6 weeks off and return to work. I will be available to train someone prior to my leave, and I will take questions and calls while I am on leave. I want to do everything I can to make this smooth for you and me...." Show them you have thought things through. Depending on the nature of your job, offer to do some work from home, if it would help.

Be sure to show excitement about your pregnancy, so you can ward off any potential negative comments. "I am excited to let you know...." If you have other children, you can also tell how this has worked for you in the past, so they don't worry about whether or not you can handle the situation.

Good luck!

They cant discriminate because you are pregant. But I'm not sure how the insurance policy works, it might be considered a pre-exsisting condition. Some companies have a 30-60-90 day period where they can let you go for any reason, check into that first. But then I say tell em, tell your supv you need to talk to him/her and let em know. Its only fair that you are both on the same field, and if you are honest with them they will appriciate that. Good luck

I was in this position with my first child.I didn't tell anybody that I was pregnant when I was hired.Don't tell them you knew before you had gotten hired, big no no. If you like who your working for and they like you, break it to them as if you just found out after you got the job and that you were not trying to get pregnant it just happen. They can't fire you, because if they do, you could sue them and the company for firing you. Just don't give them a reason to fire you that's legit, you know(steelling ect.).My boss, now my husband of 14+ years, didn't find out until I had to go on bed rest for two months, but my job was there when I could come back,my boss said that it was illeagal to get rid of me. Then I worked until 1 day before I had given birth to my daughter, now 14.The doctors said working had helpped me stay fit to give birth to 10+lb baby.

I did the same thing once. I told them that I had JUST found out and told them immediately after going to the doctor. Of course I was 14 weeks and had known for a while, but how could they prove otherwise? I know lying is not acceptable, but you need a job to be able to provide for your baby. That's what I did and it worked just fine. Good luck to you!

I would contact your human resources dept. they can give you all the information about your rights and leave time.
I would however tell your boss that you are expecting a child. Don't wait too long, besides a lot of people wait until just after the 3rd month to spill the beans to their employer!

CONGRATS!

sure, you're appropriate. they can not and does not hearth you because you're pregnant. first and preferable, checklist the failings which you're feeling you're being reprimanded for. you may constantly have documentation of alleged discrimation in case you experience that's what is going on. What i myself recommend is which you pass on your direct supervisor (in the back of closed doors & one on one) and tell her/him which you're feeling as in case your paintings is being questioned. tell her/him which you're feeling which you're doing issues the type you mostly have yet have become lawsuits now. do no longer point out you think of you're taken care of otherwise because you're pregnant. provide it each and every week and see the type you're being taken care of and if any further problems on the subject of your paintings floor. If on the top of the week you experience the stress yet, tell your direct supervisor which you're feeling as in case you and your paintings are being judged unfairly and you may prefer to request a meeting with your supervisors direct supervisor. In different words, you may use the "chain of command" at your workplace. And, bear in mind, in case you have a Human Resourse branch, they might assist you apart from would. additionally, take a competent look at what is going directly to determine which you do are not slightly extra "tender" or emotional due on your being pregnant and the hormone adjustment you would be dealing with. solid success - use your head!

I personally would wait about a week, to see if you like the job, and to see what type of people you work with, and how to approach the situation, but I wouldn't wait to long.

It would be in your best interest, and theirs, to tell them now. You would be deceiving them and that could have bad repercussions, like being let go.

Talk to your employer now.

Start asking about benefits and maternity leave. Tell them you're pregnant.
