I have a Lyretail Molly. She has some white fluffy stuff on her. A bit of her tail is rotted, and it has some rips and tears on it. Her head has some white fluff on it, just like on some parts of her body. Her spine is slightly curved. I have already seperated her from the other fish. What is wrong with her?

Fungus and Finrot, not fun! There could be a touch of scoliosis with the curved spine going on also or maybe she got zapped by a bad heater at some time or another. But I would deffinetly treat this fish with a F/mg med. Anti Fungus/Quick cure are a couple f/mg.

Mollys do like a bit of salt in there water also, have you kept a bit in? Do test for salt content, f/mg can burn a fish if the salt is to high, so 0 is best at this point and she is already sick. Keep in mind that harsh medications can push a fish over the edge though. Boost it up with a medicated food back up. Medi gold is good. Sick fish shouldn't be expending the energy to surface feed, so a sinking medicated like medi gold is best.
No lights, mg can be deactiated by tank light, so make sure the tank is in a dark spot.

It should take care of both.

Make sure you change the water properly. Fish are nibbling at her because she is sick or they are picking on her....it is a fungus and needs to be treated. Visit your local pet shop right away. The liquid meds are the best, but you can get a capsule....but ask the fish shop how much to use...remember, they are not a vet and can give you an idea what might be wrong!!! Only a vet for exotic pets can help! But if it is only a fish, and not a favorite pet, you can experiment and learn fish keeping by experimenting and asking questions, and learning from internet sites...www.tetra.com

Molly's get several things that fit what you are describing.
Fin & tail rot
Ick
bacterial infections.

Go to the pet store and describe exactly what she has and where, and ask whoever helps out in the fish department to help you pick a medication to ad to her water.

Good thing you seperated her, thats wise and you can use where she is as a hospital tank.

YOu may also have to treat the large tank.

Sounds like swimming bladder disorder and fungus. The wateris dirty; uneaten food, water too cold, injury, rotting plants, etc. or It could be that they were ill prior to buying. I take it that you didnt Quarantine each individual tank did you? I would indeed isolate the sick ones and keep a strict watch on the others. Fungus can be treated with a medicine but I highly suggest buying Aquarium salt (3$) and giving the fungus fish a salt bath (1 gallon container with clean treated water with 5 tablespoons of the aquarium salt) leave him in there for about 30 minutes

Your fish has a fungal infection. You were right to separate her from the others. You can treat the infection by putting an anti fungal solution into the water, and these solutions are available at all good aquariums and pet shops. It is not a fatal thing, but can be stubborn when you're trying to get rid of it.

I know what you are talking about! My fish had the same thing wornfg with it. Your fish has a sickness called "Ick"..it is a parasite that is caused from stress, dirty water, or from a sudden change in water temperature. Go to the pet store and buy medication for it, it cost less then 10 dollars. It will cure it in a couple days. As for the rips and tears onher fins and tail...I cant help you. What kind of fish do you have in with it?...

You could probably take her to a pet store to be sure but it could be this condition that I read about.(I can't remember the name) You see this is a problem that occurs when there's to much dissolved Oxygen in the water. I just learned about this in Biology class when i was doing a dissolved oxygen test. Try going to the pet store and if they don't know right away what it is then you might need to get a tank filter thing that regulates the oxygen level in the water. To much or to little can kill aquatic creatures in the water.

maybe you killed her by biten off her poor tail? man are you hungery something are you trying to eat her for food. well anyways , i think the reason her body and rest of her is spreading apart . maybe she is dying is she flowing top of the water . or you needed to return the fish back to the pet shop to get another fish thats alive and heathly . or you needed to clean out the tank and replace a clean water if its dirty .

It's a disease that fish get before they die. I forget the name of it.

There's something in the water that's causing it
