I'm not sure how to explain it but the last few days I've been feeling completely disconnected from the world. Everything I see and look at just doesn't seem real. I'm wondering why the world exists and why everything is the way it is and it makes me feel really sick. I've always had a really close relationship with God as a Christian, but after I read this article of an atheist it completely made me question things, and now I feel so empty and lost. Does anybody have an idea what I could do?

Quite the contrary. Asterick says you should not let that feeling blossom, and goes right on to say something or another about learning.... well, if you are going to learn something from this unusual experience, you better let it "blossom" or whatever..... do not "go out and be social", I mean, come on, you need to think things out, not go out and forget about it at the mall or something. Seems your religion is an important issue here.... I cannot relate to that direcly, that is, as a religious person, because I simply am not one, although I can definitely relate do that as another human being who has undeniably set himself up a set of beleifs just as strong as that of the beleif in God. In that sense, I could understand how disshevelling it could be to lose or at least doubt one's faith or system of beleifs/truths. However, as the improbable Muhammad Ali put it, a man who throughout the course of his life makes no significant change is not truly a man. I believe this comment on his behalf is pertinent to the very subjectivity inherent to all of us, and the changes which do occurr and we sometimes experience subjectively (and thus, on more than one level, objectively) as brusque, abrupt, alien and uncalled for. Perhaps it is one of those changes, and you must be human and face up to it........ Very best of luck to you.

First off, keep the faith, Hon. Part of being alive is being tested, as you are now.

Second, "meaning" means something different to everyone. Ask yourself what your values are and then live them. Charity? Productivity? Changing the world? Find what matters to you and do it. Don't worry about what "should matter," either. If it doesn't *actually* matter to you, don't worry about it.

Third, find time to socialize. Other people help you find your own place in the world, at least the good ones can.

Fourth, consider getting a pet. There have been times I have been upset beyond reason and one thing that I have found is that hugging a dog, feeling its soft fur and its heart beat and its slow breathing, can absolutely do wonders.

Finally, consider prayer. I myself am not sure who exactly listens to and answers these prayers, but figuring that out is another part of everyone's individual journey through life.

It gets better. Truly. Be well.

Best regards,

Talk to Jesus. No man (or woman) can come to the Father, but through the Son. Pray, in other words. Just you, only you. Our relationship with God is personal. To quote, Jesus said "You need no teacher". Meaning that you and He have a special relationship no one else can be a part of, just as another person has their own special relationship with Christ. Jesus is the healer. He has a reason for you to go through this. Without pain, there cannot be any understanding, or good feelings. One must learn hurt, before they can know joy. Wait for God to give you the answers. He is the One who knows EXACTLY what is going on! We dumb humans know NOTHING! Ha! Ha! Be patient as He is., and all things will come to those ONLY through the glory of God. Be safe, Dear.

Get back in touch with YOUR belief system! When others -for what ever reason -make a person doubt themselves those around them -or their belief system then YES you are going to feel lost! Try not to feel too bad no matter how a person believes we can sometimes wonder why things are the way they are in the world! Look for YOURSELF and find yourself a your way of believing again! Put a smile on your face!

Don't just cover up your feelings of discomfort, seek answers that make true sense and put the world into perspective. God doesn't have to be a HIM, god can be energy, just like the wind. God doesn't have to watch out for us, we could each have a bit of god within us that instills us with our own power. Happiness is a choice. Choose to revel in the true nature of the universe.

Keep your faith if it has made you feel comfortable in the past.
Sure, there might not be evidence that God exists but there is also no evidence that he does not exist. Go out and be social, that will make you feel better :-)

Find what you enjoy doing, and don't let that feeling blossom. Learning about anything makes us reevaluate our place in the world, give it time to work itself out...
