Some people must give up their rite to secure our children's futures. If that means Illegal immigrants being deported and all of their possessions and money taken away than so be it. If that means some middle eastern looking citizen has to answer a few more questions at the airport so be it. If a white man kills someone do they go ask black, Hispanic, middle eastern suspects questions. No, their is only white suspects. If you feel like my safety is expendable just so you can get Thur the airport quicker then you can find someone else to sympathize with you. I've worked security before for military posts. I know what goes on. I've been sent to try and apprehend people taking pictures of our security. They were always gone before we could get there due to the procedures we were forced to follow. They know our procedures. They know how to separate us and make us easier targets. If they were real warriors at heart then they would fight us out in the open. They wouldn't hide behind children. But they are cowards, that is their way.

The trouble with giving up rights in the name of "war on terror" is that there is a danger they will never be returned, and most took years to acquire in the first place; plus you have to trust this and every subsequent government to not abuse their new found power. I am not sure we can. If a law is introduced that reduces freedoms then it should at least be assessed independently periodically to see if it is working and also should always be introduced temporarily so that if is deemed necessary to renew it is debated or if it just becomes irrelevant then normal hard fought for rights are restored as a matter of course.
The reality is the likelihood of being killed or being directly effected by terrorism is rare statistically. This should be considered whenever laws are introduced otherwise there is a danger they are just reactionary. .

Nothing. They can completely suspend the constitution but that would not guarantee that we would be safe. In that case I'll take my chances with the constitution in tact. Besides. If we start widdling at our guiding principles, the things that define us as a people, then the terrorists have achieved a huge victory.

I would give up my rights to a point with respect to entering this country. I would want border and customs to tear apart every possibility of someone smuggling in anything that would or could be remotely affiliated with a terrorist activity, that would include the government listening to out/in bound international calls.
As far as my rights with in the United States as they apply to my daily routine... Give me liberty or give me death!

There is no need to give up rights. What we need is a sound anti-terror policy that doesn't create more terrorists.

Not even their own children or places of worship.

If we gave up our rights we wouldn't be Americans any longer. It's not our job to give up everything we have just to satisfy some stupid politicians because they're too busy fxcking us over. It's our presidents job to take care of business.

Don't make phone calls to terrorists, and you won't lose any rights at all.
Just write terrorists letters, and it's okay.

I don't mind having to remove my shoes at the airport or have them search my stuff.
If I wanted security on my phone conversations I will get secure phones. Until then listen away if you can stand the boredom.
What other rights have been taken away?

I think I've given up quite enough, thank you. Can't even take a trip without a huge hassle. No longer have any privacy on phone, computer, etc.
