first off i'd have to say that it depends on your own definition of 'powerful'. I take it to mean music that when you hear it you get goosepimples and the hair on the back of your neck stands up. so that it mind:
Anything from Our Lady Peace.

Masterpeices, man how long have you got: Whiter shade of pale - prokul harum, smells like teen spirit - nirvana, under the bridge - chilis, Shiny Happy People -REM(shut up i like it), Do you Realise - flaming lips, brokedown palace - grateful dead, Mass destruction -faithless, Christmas Eve Trans Siberian Orchestra (i know its weird), requiem for a dream - Clint Mansell....

Well, Music is my life, I am always listening to music. I could reach from all over and name tons of bands, but I have a few specific favorites that are incredible. I saw 23 different bands this summer, and I have to say that the best is "Radiohead." They are one of the most musically powerful bands out there, I would seriously recommend that you buy one of their albums, if you like rock, then get "The Bends," and is you like more electronic synth stuff then go for "Kid A," but, all of there albums are great. as for specific songs, its hard to even consider only one song, I would say the song of the summer with an excellent performance in concert as well, was definitely "Crazy" by Gnarles Barkley.
