Men can indeed get urinary tract infections, though it is generally more common in women due largely to their anatomy. In women the urethra is much shorter, so any infection has less distance to travel before seeding into the bladder. Symptoms are the same in both sexes and are usually treated with simple antibiotics unless more serious treatment is needed (refractory cases or ascending infection involving the kidneys). Some 'at home' efforts may reduce your risk and may help eliminate the infection faster. The most important of which is keeping well hydrated. The more often you flush out your bladder the less time the bacteria have to repopulate and their numbers are diluted. Some anecdotal evidence indicates cranberry juice is also beneficial, as it lowers the pH of your urine to levels generally unacceptable to bacteria.

Yes men can get urine infections. I'm having one now. I had prostate rad-seed surgery in June and am still recovering although i was back on the basketball court in July. My doctor prescribed an antibiotic and all should be better in a week. Drink lots of fluids especially fruit juice. The acidic kind like orange or cranberry is supposed to help.

Nope, men get them too. My husband has a bladder infection right now. They always give you Bactrim for it, Its an antibiotic commonly used for urinary infections.
Hubby was stuck in the chicago airport all night recently, he didnt sleep, didnt drink enough and was plain stressed. We think that was the cause. Stress will do it for sure. And yes, the symptoms are the same for men and women.
This is his second one this yr.
