Well, don't do anything yet. Several computer technology experts report that Microsoft's WGA is anything but accurate. Up to 42% of computers detected as having a counterfeit copy of Windows were in fact genuine. In other words, WGA validation is not to be trusted. As of now, even copies which fail WGA validation can still receive security patches. Other Microsoft's software are not, such as Windows Defender and .NET Framework.

If you believe that your copy of Windows is genuine, you can go to Microsoft's support website for more info:

Even in cases of invalid Windows copies, Microsoft will give you a genuine license key if you provide them details on how you obtained the invalid copy. WGA is a work in progress and expect glicthes.

If it is NOT counterfeit and you have a valid license key, or the OS came with your computer, you should follow up with Microsoft. I don't know the exact venue as I have not had that problem but you should visit their website or look at the message you are getting to see if it provides contact information.

If the OS you are running is not "legitimate" you can purchase Windows XP relatively inexpensively. Here's one example (I looked on Froogle and it was one of the ads there):

for around $85.

You might be able to purchase it less expensively if you shop around. If you are a full-time student look for student discounts through your school or anywhere else that sells the software.

Myself I Would'nt Worry About It too Much, for one all that it means is you cannot get windows updates, in wich sometimes the updates seem to slow your cpu down anyway, and #2 microsoft is really chickenshit and should'nt be charging the consumer as much money as they do for their operating system that always seems to have a problem with it. i think that you should keep using the version that you have because there are ways around their genuine advantage tool.
